Boarding and Services
Silverthorn Farm is a 150 acre horse farm with a 15 stall barn. As a renovated 150 year old dairy barn, our facility offers both history and rustic charm. We currently have a 125x210 sand arena, and coming in summer of 2010, a new 200x225 hunter ring, for our competitive show horses. We also offer over 20 acres of trail riding for our pleasure riders. Our facility can offer a wide range of opportunities for any goal oriented rider.
Silverthorn Farm offers both full stall board and pasture board. With one hundred acres of pasture, we can provide ample turnout in small herds or individual paddock turnout.
Full stall board includes twice daily feeding, hay, stall cleaning, blanketing or fly spray, and turnout. Individual turnout is available for an additional fee. The outer 9 stalls are 12x12 stalls, our inner stalls range from 10x16 to 10x10 for our ponies. All stalls are matted and amply bedded.
Pasture board includes blanketing and fly spray, twice daily wellness checks, and feed up to twice a day for an additional fee.
Our staff thoroughly inspects each horse twice daily for injuries, lameness, missing shoes and wellness. Staff and employees are educated and experienced to handle any medical issue. We can provide first rate care for the injured or ill horse in the form of bandage changes, wraps, medication administraition, colic watches, etc.
Silverthorn Farm employs the services of many of the top professionals in the Southeast, such as Jack Schwarz of Monetta, SC, farrier, Covered Bridge Equine, local veterinary practice, and Dr. Greg Fowler of Ocala, FL, equine dentist, chiropractor, acupuncture and lameness specialist. Our close proximity to the UGA veterinary hospital is also a great benefit in the unfortunate incidence of any equine emergency.
